ABOUT LUCIA D'AMATO

Pure craftsmanship

I am a lover of nature, of natural fibers, of dyes made with plant pigments. For about twenty years I have been involved in manual processing of carded wool to obtain felt

THE WOOL

Sheep have accompanied man for millennia and woolen fabrics in the past have constituted the wealth of nations. For a few decades, with the advent of synthetic fibers, this natural fiber has been forgotten, becoming a niche market segment and giving way to large-scale industrial leaders who are imported from abroad, losing a healthy and natural resource.

Here in Trentino and South Tyrol there are still some small woolen mills and thanks to the work of associations such as the Casa di Feltro here in the Valsugana/Lagorai region, we have been able to recover the complete wool supply chain, gathering skills knowledge and equipment that were about to be lost.

THE SHOP

I attended workshops at the International Meetings of Feltrai in Tesimo / Nalles (BZ) where I also learned the technique of felt nuno, a process that allows the very fine wool to merge with the fibers of silk and cotton, allowing the creation of very light garments, great for every season.

Chi sono: Chi siamo

THE WORKSHOPS

I organize workshops where adults and children can learn felt manufacturing techniques and the steps to work with wool.
Activities are available for individuals or small groups.
